About the Artwork ⛩️
Tōshūsai Sharaku (active 1794–95) produced some of the most psychologically intense portraits in the history of ukiyo-e. His ōkubi-e of Kabuki actors — bold, unflinching, and full of character — remain among the most iconic images of the Edo period. This design is sourced from a public domain work held in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
